About the event

Join me for a beautiful Eve Summer Walk in the Golden Valley, starting from the historic St Bartholomew’s Church in Vowchurch — one of Herefordshire’s hidden gems. Often called the “multi-coloured church,” this Grade I listed building with Norman foundations sits beside the gentle River Dore, which winds through this quiet and deeply rural valley.


From the church we’ll set off on a roughly 4-mile circular walk, gradually climbing a hillside area known locally as Vowchurch Common, which rises to around 200 metres. The route passes quaint old cottages, scattered woodland, and open fields, giving a wonderfully elevated perspective across the Golden Valley.


Once at the top, we can pause to enjoy the views and the sense of space this peaceful hillside provides. The descent takes us through fields and across the River Dore via a small footbridge, before returning to the tiny hamlet of Turnastone, home to its own 12th-century church, just…
