Access Statement

At Sarah Price Hiking, we want our walks and activities to be as inclusive as possible. We welcome people of all ages and abilities, including people with physical, sensory or other access needs, and we will always do our best to find ways for people to enjoy walking with us safely.

However, walking in the countryside comes with natural access challenges which are beyond our control, including uneven or muddy ground, gradients, stiles and other obstacles. Some of our activities can also be physically demanding.

We will always consider reasonable adjustments to routes where appropriate and possible, using sensitivity and creativity to help people take part. However, the nature of the countryside means that this will not always be possible. Where we believe that participation could present a significant risk to an individual or the wider group, we may need to decline a booking or participation. We will always aim to discuss this with you openly and sensitively.

For private guided walks, we may be able to plan a route around specific access requirements. This can allow us to consider the needs of individuals or groups in more detail and choose a route that is as suitable as possible. Please get in touch to discuss your requirements before booking.

Walking Routes

  • We offer guided walks throughout the year, starting at different times and from a variety of locations. Activities range from approximately one hour to a full day.

  • We do not use formal grading systems for our walks. Instead, each activity description provides information about the distance, duration, terrain, gradients and likely ground conditions, along with any other relevant considerations.

  • Most of the countryside where we walk is considered low-level terrain, but it is not without its ups and downs. Some day walks may involve more than 300m / 985ft of ascent, with some steep climbs or descents, while other routes have little significant ascent.

  • We generally follow established footpaths and tracks, although these may be rough, stony or muddy.

  • Some routes involve stiles, although many are being replaced by kissing gates.

  • Public toilets are not usually available along our routes, although facilities may be available at some start and finish points.

  • Participants should be prepared to carry essential items in a rucksack, including food, water, waterproofs and spare clothing.

Pre-Booking

  • Please read the individual walk description carefully before booking. This will provide information about the distance, duration, terrain, gradients and likely conditions, and will indicate who the activity is intended for, such as beginners, experienced walkers or families.

  • You should be satisfied that you and your group have a suitable level of fitness and ability for the activity you have chosen.

  • If you have any concerns about the suitability of a walk, or if you have specific access requirements, please get in touch before booking. We are very happy to discuss your needs and provide further information wherever possible.

  • Where appropriate, we may be able to modify a programmed activity to enable someone to take part safely. However, the physical constraints of the countryside mean that this will not always be possible.

  • We may be able to offer or plan walks for people with physical or sensory access requirements. For example, we can sometimes choose routes that avoid stiles, use well-made footpaths and tracks, or have limited gradients.

  • Suitable local routes for mobility scooters and wheelchair users are unfortunately limited, but we are happy to discuss individual requirements and explore the available options.

  • If you have an access requirement that isn't covered here, please don't assume that a walk won't be suitable. Get in touch and we will be happy to discuss what might be possible.

Dogs

For the comfort, safety and enjoyment of all participants, dogs are not permitted on our group event walks, walking courses, retreats or collaborative walking events.

Dogs may be considered on private guided walks where the whole group has hired Sarah Price Hiking, provided this has been agreed in advance and the route is suitable.

Assistance dogs are welcome where appropriate. If you are planning to attend a walk with an assistance dog, please contact us before booking so that we can discuss the route and any relevant access or safety considerations.

Pre-Arrival

  • We will liaise with you where necessary to understand the needs of you and your group and, where appropriate, consider these as part of our route planning and risk assessment.

  • Walks start from a variety of locations. Details of the meeting point are provided on the individual walk webpage and confirmed by email after booking.

  • If you have specific access requirements relating to the meeting point, parking, terrain or facilities, please contact us in advance so that we can provide any additional information we have.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

  • Parking and other facilities vary depending on the starting point of each walk. Details will be provided where relevant in the walk information.

  • Some rural meeting points may have uneven ground or limited parking facilities.

  • If you have specific access or parking requirements, please contact us before booking and we will be happy to provide any additional information we have and discuss what may be possible.
