HIKES IN SOUTH WALES

South Wales offers an extraordinary variety of landscapes to explore on foot, from open mountain ridges to quiet valleys and hidden corners that feel a world away from everyday life.

At its heart lies the Brecon Beacons National Park, now known by its Welsh name Bannau Brycheiniog. While the peaks are rightly famous, the park’s magic is also found beyond the summits — in ancient forests, rolling hills, secluded valleys, streams, reservoirs, villages and timeless monuments, all rich in history and atmosphere.

Hikes in South Wales can be as gentle or as challenging as you choose. I’ll help you find a walk that suits you, often leading you away from busy mountain tops to quieter landscapes where the crowds fade and the place can truly be felt.

Let me lead you to special places where the landscape works its quiet magic, leaving you with memories to treasure.

I lead guided walks in some of the most beautiful areas of South Wales, including Crickhowell, Abergavenny and the Llanthony Valley in Monmouthshire. Routes may include iconic landmarks such as Table Mountain, Sugar Loaf Mountain, The Blorenge, the Black Mountains, and sections of Offa’s Dyke, all offering far-reaching views within the Brecon Beacons National Park.

I also guide walks on the Gower Peninsula on the south coast of Wales — a remote and beautiful coastal setting. These walks are often part of women’s retreats, with private guided walks available on request.

The Brecon Beacons

The Brecon Beacons offer incredible walking — dramatic peaks, peaceful valleys and beautiful waterfalls.

I can guide you on both classic hilly routes and quieter alternatives that are just as scenic, varied and full of history and wildlife.

Let me lead you on a walk that matches your ability, your interests and your sense of adventure.

The Black Mountains

The Black Mountains form the quieter eastern side of the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park, home to remote valleys, ancient churches, ruins, forests and sweeping ridgelines.

Join me to explore places like the beautiful Vale of Ewyas with its ruined priory, Llangorse Lake, or the legendary Witch’s Pool & waterfall above Talgarth.

It’s a landscape full of history and hidden beauty — and often wonderfully peaceful.

The Usk Valley

The Usk Valley is a gorgeous mix of riverside paths, canal trails and impressive hills around Talybont, Llangynidr and Crickhowell.

Some of my scheduled group walks explore these areas, and I can also design a bespoke route combining the very best sections.

You enjoy the views —

I’ll lead the way.
