Walks near Hay-on-Wye

Hay-on-Wye is the perfect base for exploring on foot,

and I’d love to show you some of my favourite places, from the dramatic Vale of Ewyas with it's ancient Llanthony Priory ruins, and the wide-open Begwns moorland, to ancient Arthur’s Stone and the wildflower meadows around Llangorse Lake.

Walks from Hay-on-Wye

With footpaths heading out in every direction, Hay-on-Wye is a wonderful place to start a walk. The Offa’s Dyke path and the Wye Valley Walk both run right through the town, offering everything from gentle riverside strolls to iconic long-distance sections.

Hay-on-Wye River Walk

Hay-on-Wye sits right beside the beautiful River Wye, with gentle footpaths, riverbank wildlife, playful sculptures and even a little beach for a possible wild swim. This is my home patch, and I know every twist and turn.

Walks in Hay-on-Wye

Hay-on-Wye has a rich story to tell — from its medieval castle and old town walls to its world-famous bookshops and festival. Add in the beautiful River Wye, and it’s a wonderful place to explore on foot.
 

I can guide you on a gentle circular walk that takes in the town’s historic sites, open fields, valley views and an ancient spring — all without any stiles. It’s also a perfect add-on to a visit to Hay Castle, helping you connect the site to its wider landscape.​
