About the event

For this special Eve Summer Walk, I’m delighted to hand the reins over to Julie Bell, an experienced walk leader and Gold Brecon Beacons National Park Ambassador, who brings a wonderful depth of knowledge about the landscape, wildlife and stories of the area.

This gentle 3.5-mile circular walk explores the peaceful western and southern shores of Llangorse Lake, the largest natural freshwater lake in South Wales, set beneath the beautiful mountain backdrop of the Brecon Beacons.

Starting near the lake shore, the route follows easy paths around the western side of the lake, where we’ll visit the wildflower meadows, an important habitat for a wide range of wildlife. In midsummer these meadows buzz with life, and we may see dragonflies, butterflies and a variety of meadow plants, all thriving in this carefully protected environment.

We’ll also visit the beautiful thatched bird hide, perfectly placed for watching the lake’s birdlife — so…
