Eve Summer Walk; Whitney-on-Wye

This Eve Summer Walk explores the beautiful, peaceful countryside around Whitney-on-Wye, right on the border of England and Wales. Starting from the valley floor beside the River Wye, we’ll follow a circular route of approximately 3–4 miles, walking at a steady, comfortable pace that allows time to enjoy both the landscape and good company.

From Whitney we’ll gradually climb on footpaths past Whitney Court country house and its church, before entering lovely woodland, where the soft evening light filters through the trees and birdsong often accompanies us. Continuing through open fields, we pass the small hamlet of Little Merthyr, a quiet and charming corner of the border countryside. Using a few quiet country lanes, we make our way back towards Whitney, finishing with a final walk through another beautiful stretch of woodland before returning to our starting point.
