About the event
Wild moorland, birds of the uplands and sweeping views — a peaceful summer evening wander high above Painscastle.
A roughly 4-mile circular guided walk.
Join me for a beautiful Eve Summer Walk above the small village of Painscastle, exploring the open moorland of Llanbedr Hill in the peaceful Radnorshire hills. Sitting at around 430 metres above sea level, this quiet upland landscape feels wonderfully spacious and remote, yet it’s surprisingly accessible — the perfect place to enjoy a summer evening in the hills.
From the high ground we should enjoy wonderful panoramic views, looking south towards the dramatic ridges of the Black Mountains and west towards the distant peaks of the Brecon Beacons. On clear evenings we can also easily spot one of the area’s most curious landmarks — the famous “Roundabout,” a distinctive circle of trees marking the nearby summit of the Begwns moor.
This area is also a rich wildlife haven,…
