A short summer evening walk around parts of the Taff Trail and Trevithick Trail, exploring the history, views and hidden routes running right through the valley. Easy pace, plenty of chat, everyone welcome, & yes, we’ll be filming along the way to help show off Merthyr’s trails to more people.

About the event
Come and join us for a subsidised, friendly summer evening walk exploring sections of both the Taff Trail and the Trevithick Trail right here in Merthyr Tydfil.
This short circular route starts from town and follows easy tarmac paths, crossing over the river and railway while taking in local history, valley views and some of the old industrial routes that helped shape the area we know today.
Along the way we’ll be joined by a local history enthusiast who’ll point out interesting features and share stories about the railways, industry and people that once worked and lived around these trails.
The walk is all about encouraging local people to discover what’s right on their doorstep, whether that’s for walking, cycling, fresh air, meeting people, or simply getting outside more often. The trails are well signposted, easy to follow and suitable for all sorts of ages and abilities.
