About the event

This guided autumn walk follows a 15-mile linear section of the Offa’s Dyke Path, one of Britain’s best-known long-distance national trails, taking us from Kington to Hay-on-Wye through some of the finest border countryside.

Although the earthwork of Offa’s Dyke itself isn’t visible on this section, the route closely follows the historic line of the England–Wales border, offering a real sense of journey through a landscape shaped by centuries of history, farming and movement. The Offa’s Dyke Path is walked by people from across Britain and overseas, and this section is a particularly beautiful and satisfying one.

We begin in Kington, climbing steadily onto Hergest Ridge, where expansive views open out almost immediately. From here, the route undulates over rolling hills, passing through open fields, small hilltop moors and quiet woodland, with constantly changing scenery. The walking is varied and engaging without involving mountains or technical terrain.
