Service Description

Led by me, Sarah Price, a qualified walk leader, this 3-hour route links the historic book town with the Offa’s Dyke Path, cross-border paths into England, rural viewpoints, and the banks of the River Wye. It offers a relaxed, engaging outing for families, private parties, and solo female walkers looking to explore with an experienced local guide at a comfortable pace. Hear how Hay developed its independent character and became the world’s first celebrated ‘Book Town.’ Offa’s Dyke & Border Paths: Step out along the historic Offa’s Dyke Path with views stretching across the surrounding valley and countryside toward the foothills of the Black Mountains. Border Crossings & Local Folklore: Cross the England–Wales border to discover a secluded waterfall and visit the churchyard where the self-proclaimed ‘King of Hay’ lies buried. Valley Views & Historic Mill: Return into Wales past a historic old watermill and an ever-flowing freshwater spring, taking in panoramic viewpoints over the town. The River Wye Beach: Head down to the shingle beach on the River Wye for wildlife spotting and stone skimming, with time for an optional paddle or dip if the weather invites it.
